I write for all ages and my stories have been sold all round the world as well as in the UK. Something Else, illustrated by Chris Riddell, won the first UNESCO Award for Children's Literature in the Service of Tolerance (under-8 age-group) in 1994. My latest book, Troll Wood, illustrated by Paul Hess, is due to appear in 2013. I live in London.
I love school visits. I do imagination-stretching story-making and writing workshops with children and adults anywhere.
"An excellent visit to the classroom with perfectly pitched resources and interaction that had the children (and Staff!) hooked."
I run Able Writers workshops (through Authors Abroad ). Next dates:
17 May at Combe Bank, Sevenoaks
29 May at Chislet Primary School, Canterbury.
I'm very excited to be on the panel judging the impressive entries for Amnesty's 2012 award for young writers on human rights.
I'm adding eBooks of my fiction titles to this site. Until I fine tune things and work out how I might sell them, you can download the full eBook edition of The Emperor's Gruckle Hound absolutely free! The first 15 chapters of Similon are also available.
Caroline Walsh at David Higham
